Give them a Second Chance!

Today was memorable.

It was my first encounter with a group of Sec 2 cadets whom have been missing in action for the past training. Or for a special few, there have been playing hide-and-seek for the last few trainings.

I didn't have a proper introduction with them, except a stern warning levelled towards them. The warning came out very clearly - that absence from CCA without any valid reasons equals to absence from class which equals to committing truancy in school.

The point was sent very explicitly to them with the hope that the Unit will see some positive changes from this group of cadets.

Since we came back from the vacation, the Sec 1s have maintained almost a full 100% attendance for the last 3 trainings. Keep it up cadets! Really proud of you...

But for the Sec 2s, we need to see the attendance increasing. So for the Sec 2 NCOs, I've already spoken to the 18 absentees during assembly this morning. So we'll expect a better number to come for the next training.

Give them a chance. All of us are humans and we make mistakes in life. When they make a comeback to the Unit, accept them sincerely. After all, we all function as a Unit. A Unit filled with pride, joy and a story to tell others.

Supportively,
Mr Syed
