Important: Administrative Announcements

Hi cadets,

Welcome back to a brand new year!

It's a new start and all the NPCC teachers hope that all of you have made your new year resolutions to study harder and of course to become a more committed NPCC cadet. We can assure you that as the Unit expands this year, there'll be more activities to look forward to and training will also be more interesting.

But before that, these are the some important anouncement that you NEED TO KNOW:

From now on, there will be a weekly NPCC training every Wednesday at 3.45pm SHARP. All cadets are required to fall in with your full uniform. You are to bring your PT attire (NPCC yellow t-shirt and shorts), 1.5 litres waterbottle, NPCC notebook & writing materials.

Since school ends at around 1.30pm/2pm depending on your levels and streams, please spend the time wisely before training begins. You can use the school library to do your homework as well as revise for the upcoming common tests or even to finish up your project work.

You are strongly encouraged to bring your full uniform and PT attire every Wednesday to school so that you won't have to spend unnecessary time rushing home and coming back for training. Your parents will be informed of this arrangment soon - the idea is so that you can use that 2 hours to complete all your homework before you come for training at NPCC :)

As mentioned, each training is compulsory and attendance will be strictly taken! Teachers in-charge will be updating each level's attendance every week and will be submitting it the Principal upon request. Hence, please ensure that each and every one of you take full responsibility over your individual attendance because the school will treat absence from CCA (without a valid reason) as truancy and this amount to a serious offence!

However, should you have an MC, please do not come for training and instead please rest at home. The day you come back to school, you can pass your MC to the teachers in-charge of your level. You can either pass them personally or drop it at their respective pigeon holes if you cannot find them. In case you are sick but you do not have an MC, please get your parents to call the teachers. This is because when you're unwell, it's best to see the doctor so that the doctor can render you appropriate treatment and hence your illness will not be prolonged.

Similarly, letters from parents (due to any unforseen circumstances) must be accompanied with a phone call informing the respective teachers in-charge of your absence. This is so that the teachers can put a valid reason explaining for your absence on that particular training.

So what happen if you attend school on that Wednesday and for some reason, you feel unwell? You should immediately see the doctor after school and pass to the teachers your MC on the day you come back to school. After all, your health is our main concern! We want each cadet to remain healthy and happy always :)

However we apologise that in such cases letters will not be accepted! Since you were in school earlier that morning, this indicates that you're not certified as unwell by the doctor. Hence unless you see a doctor in the afternoon and you're given MC, you have to attend the training to get your attendance taken. But do not worry because you will be excused from any physical activities on that day although you still have join in the theory lessons. Just to reiterate (repeat one more time), unless you have an MC to produce, please come or else you'll be given a zero attendance. Below is the list of teachers in-charge of the various levels:

2009 Teacher Officers
Sec 1 - Mrs Chia Hui Hong
Sec 2 - Mr Syed Faisal
Sec 3 - Mr Tchen Beng Huat & Ms Cinthia Tan
Sec 4 - Mr Don Yeo

The list above is the respective teachers that you should approach either to pass your MCs, letters (to explain valid reasons for your absence) or to find out any information regarding your training matters. Please make an effort to get to know them personally because they are the ones taking care of your attendance as well as your training profiles. You can also pass to them the photocopied certificates of courses that you've taken outside in case you wish to apply for certain proficiency badges under NPCC. Remember each of these teachers have a pigeon hole outside the Staff Room and you can always drop them a note just in case you can't find them.

Finally, just a reminder for all - Training will be on all the way until Apr 2009 (for Sec 1 to Sec 3) unless the teachers inform you otherwise. From now on, there will no longer be morning announcement to inform you of the weekly trainings. We'll only inform you through this blog (In-charge: Ma'am Valerie) and through the NPCC noticeboard outside the NPCC room (In-charge: Ma'am Nikki). Hence please read both the blog and noticeboard often!

As mentioned earlier, it's a brand new beginning this year, so please take that leap of faith to start afresh! If you have not been coming for the past few months, put in more effort and make yourself more visible... If you've not been taking your promotion tests so far, ask your Sirs/Ma'ams on how you can continue... Don't give yourself any more excuses for your absence. The Unit has put everything in place and we really hope that at your side, you can put in equal effort!

It's never too late! You can chart your own destiny, to choose what kind of cadet you wish to become. Be a committed one! Remember the target for each cadet is to aim for 100% attendance unless you've an MC or valid reasons due to unforseen circumstances.

Thanks for reading this lengthy email!

Cheers,
On behalf of Greendale NPCC Unit 2009
