NPCC Training Updates

Hi all,

There were a lot of activities happening since the last 3 weeks and more exciting activities lined up in the next coming week. Hope you are ready for the holidays!!!

1. NPCC Day (Parade) - 20 May 2009 (Wed)

• All of the Sec 1-3 cadets assembled for our annual celebration of the NPCC Day. Though we did not put up a sterling performance, I think we learnt a lot from what happened that day. Lets hope that all of us realised the importance of TEAMWORK!

2. NPCC Hiking @ Southern Bridges - 22 May 09 (Fri)

• When asked, most cadets said that they had fun during the hike despite the lethargy of climbing up and down the bridge that extended over 3.5km. It was a great bonding session for the entire Unit; something that we needed to get us back as one!

3. NPCC Sec 1 Swearing In Ceremony - 28 May 09 (Thur)

• The Sec 1s almost had 100% attendance except for Nigel who was on MC. Congratulations because all of you are now officially a member of the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC). Please make sure that each of you are now wearing the NPCC badge on the right side of your school uniform and that you have a complete set of the NPCC uniform. If you still have missing items, please ask Mrs Yeo immediately.

4. Dunman High Inter Unit Competition - 01 Jun 09 (Mon)

• Congratulations to Iffah, A'tikah & Adonelle (Sec 3s NCO) for securing the fourth position out of the ten participating teams in the competition "Don't Forget The Lyrics" organised by Dunman High NPCC Unit. Although we did not secure 1 UOPA point, but you did the Unit PROUD! And of course, we are sure that you have loads of fun there!

5. Sec 2 Civil Defence Course - 02 Jun 09 (Tue)

• This only concerned Jing Zhi, Hong Sheng & Jian Kai (Sec 2s) who missed out the Civil Defence Course in Mar 09. I've arranged for the three of you to go with Punggol Secondary NPCC cadets. Please meet at 7.45am at Punggol Sec in your NPCC t-shirt, track pants and writing materials. Do not be late!

6. Unit Holiday Training & Promotional Test - 04 Jun 09 (Thur) & 05 Jun 09 (Fri)

• All Sec 1 -3s are advised to attend this holiday training as there will be a lot of different skills being taught ranging from pioneering to campcraft to marching. Corporal & Sergeant promotional tests will also be held for the respective levels. This training should not be MISSED by anyone!

7. Sec 3s Revolver Shooting Competition - 05 Jun 09 (Fri)

• Wishing the Sec 3s who are representing the Unit all the best! Hope that you can clinch at least 3rd prize in the competition! We BELIEVE in you!

8. Sec 1 Road Safety Park Training - 10 Jun 09 (Wed)

• Compulsory training for all Sec 1s. Please make sure you come down for this fun-filled activity at Road Safety Park @ East Coast. At the end of the training, a badge awaits you!

9. Sec 2 SANA Course - 12 Jun 09 (Fri)

• Held at SANA Headquarters in front of Compass Point Shopping Centre, this one-day course promises to equip cadets with esssential knowledge pertaining to preventive measures against drug abuse. At the end of the course, a simple assessment will be conducted and cadets who pass this assessment will get a SANA badge. Cadets are to report in their NPCC t-shirt, track pants and writing materials by 8am on the 12th Jun 09.

10. Sec 2 Road Marshall Duty @ Road Safety Park - 30 Jun 09 (Tue)

• After the training was conducted a year ago, our Sec 2 cadets will now have a chance to put their skills to a test! This activity promises an exhilirating and thrilling itinerary as cadets will have a chance to become traffic marshalls (e.g. they can even pass out summon tickets) to primary school kids who break traffic rules during the competition.
