On 03 July, 5 of our cadets went for the Explorally (Amazing Race). Jing Zhi, Khairul, Charmaine, Joanne & Liyun. We didn't manage to win anything as we couldn't find the place at the 5th station, it's okay the most important thing is that we have FUN!!! another thing is that our school NCC has sent 3 groups to be in the race and 1 of the group got the 2nd place!!(claps*)
With the first clue given, we had to go the the Amphitheatre, located near Dhoby Green,
we had a hard time finding the Game masters as due to the rain, they had shifted place. Then we finally found them. In this station, we played 5 stones, flicking marble and chapteh. Everybody had fun and it was our first time playing these games.
We got our second clue and we had to head to the Cathay.
At that station, we had to pack a ready bag, which 1 will be blind folded, and the others will direct him/her to get the items needed for the ready bag.
In this case, Joanne was the one being blindfolded, and JingZhi, Khairule, Charmaine and I (Liyun) guided her to take the items needed for the ready bag.
The second game was First aid bandaging. I(Liyun) was being bandaged on i do not know first aid and the others were first-aiders.
The third game was to extinguish a fire on a burning pan, which we often see during Civil Defence courses. Joanne went to put out the fire, and tadah ! Off we went to the next station with our clue given.
With our third clue, we headed to the War Memorial Park located near raffles place.
At that place, we had to find paper strips scattered all around the places. The strips of paper were all scrambled up and we had a hard time unscrambling them. Using all those words we had found, we had to either perform a skit or write a poem. We decided to do a skit.
After completing the skit, it was around 1 pm and we had to go for our lunch break.
We went to macdonalds and had our lunch (:
Aftermath, we took some pictures and decided to go back as our lunch break was only 1 hour.
When we walked back, the tanks for NDP blocked our way, thus we ended up walking the underground tunnel which lead us to the war memorial park. We then got our clue and went off.
We headed to Fort Canning Park after that. We had to climb many flight of stairs and we finally reached the top. We went to the game masters and he briefed us on what to do. In this station, we had to play with water gun ! :D We had to shoot down our enemies ( guys holding gun printed on a piece of paper ) and what we meant by shooting them down was to shoot off the tape and make it fall down. In this game everybody got wet, as many game masters were crazily shooting us with their water guns.
After shooting 10 targets down, we got our clue and we went to the 5th station.
At the 5th station, we were supposed to go to somerset, but somehow we went to orchard. Thus we walked alot and finally walked so somerset. By the time we reached there, it was about 5 - the ending of all games.
So we settled down to wait for the game master to dismiss us. Then we went back to the starting point (Dhoby Ghaut Green). We had a prize presentation after that and we went off.
Yup, i guess everybody had fun and it's a pity that we did not manage to complete all the games. But what matters most is the process and also the fun we had (:
