Fourth Day To OEV Malaysia 2009

Woke up and had breakfast in the hotel, fall in full uniform at 7 am in the lounge and we had our briefing.

First stop is coolest to the max. We went to the Forensic Laboratory. Had an opening speech from the person in charge, saying the different roles in this laboratory, like DNA, CSI, fingerprint, drug analysis, weapons analysis and many other departments. Luckily this time, our CIs did not present our Singapore NPCC structure. If not, we would have listened to it 4 consecutive times. Ha-ha. Then, we took a break and had some kueh (Malay traditional cakes). Then, we took a tour around the departments, it was so cool. It was fun and interesting, we have sure learnt many things from there.

Went to the first department, which is the collection of evidence. Picture 440 shows this Ultra Violet ray (I think); the purpose of this is to find any small items that we cannot see under the direct sunlight. It has many many colors like white, green, orange, red, violet, etc (see picture 441-444). There are different colors as to suit the different background of the object.

Continued our tour and went to the rest of the departments.(Picture 438 part one to 22 of part 2)

We went to the fingerprint department, or otherwise known as DNA department. But unfortunately there do not allows photos to be taken. Anyway, do you know that super glue can be used to examine a fingerprint? But it is extremely dangerous, as sniffing it in large amount will cause brain damage. So, don’t ever try this at home as the lab has safety precautions made, but we don’t.

Then, we went to the Audio/Video/Photo Entachament department. We learnt how do the officers there find a deleted file and break a case. Any case that involves the use of electronics, this department would be involved.

Then, we went to CSI department, which is otherwise known as Crime Scene Investigation. Wiky Sir, Tingli Mdm, Hweecheng Mdm and Abel Sir had participated in a competition regarding CSI. We learnt more in depths of theirs. Same thing, no photos can to be taken, so had to keep the camera.
Next, we went to the weapons analysis department. Learnt some new weapons, and most importantly, we picked up some basic skills on how to examine a weapon.

Then, we go into this drugs analysis department. They taught us to differentiate a normal medicine from drugs through this special computer. (Picture 16 of part 2) If the line is high, it is a drug, if it is low, it is a medicine.

Then, we ate our lunch there. And, the officers exchanged theirs gifts as usual.

Took another group photo and we bade farewell to this laboratory and the officers.

We went back to the hotel to change into another new set of clothes and had another lunch before we go to another museum, which is the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. The inner part of it is like a metal sculpture. At the museum, there are many many beautiful sculptures, and all of them are made from metal. From Copper to silver then to steel, any metals you name it, they have it.

In picture 36, it shows a cup. It was said to be the largest sculpture in the museum.

In picture 38, it shows an old man. He was the first person who started this museum. Which is also the founder of this museum. Right now, this museum had been passed down to his great grandson to manage it. I would like to bring you guys to a point which is on picture 40 of part 2. What does it shows? Well, it is the Twins Tower. This sculpture is said to be the most tiring work ever. Also, it took the longest time to be completed apart from other objects. From what the tour guide mentioned, this sculpture used a total of 90000 (ninety thousand) over small cups and 3 over years to be completed. Without determination and perseverance, I guess they would not have completed the project. I personally like this sculpture a lot.

Then, we went to tour around the place. From this museum, we learnt a lot of interesting facts regarding metals. For example, we learnt that on other planets, how much a certain weight weighs on there. We also learnt how to make designs on a cup, the different procedures and instrument to make a sculpture etc.

Toured around the place, saw some souvenirs but it was too expensive. Luckily we had the camera to take shots of it :)
And this is our tour guide- Mr Paul. He is very mischievous, as when I wanted to take a photo of all the frames, he suddenly pop out. :)

Then, we go back to Sugei Wang to do some shopping. Contributing more and more to the Malaysia’s Economy instead of Singapore’s. :O

After shopping, we went to have our dinner, went to a Japanese restaurant, which does not serve us Japanese food. Hilarious, isn't it?

Then, we went back to the hotel, had our debrief in the lounge.

Then, to end off this Educational Visit, we had a party in a lounge. It is sure fun there, got Auntie Lucy’s and Uncle Lucy’s show performed by the cadets. It is sure funny, when a guy intimates an aunty and even speaks like one.

After the party, we went back to our own room to pack our bags then lights out.

Slept on the bed for the last time. Will sure miss ‘my’ bed lot.
